Why did you almost NOT sign up to work with FitQueen?
For me, I’ve worked with Emily before and I’m a returner to the programme. When I first reached out to Emily, she was referred by an industry peer and I worked with her through lockdown as I was really struggling with motivation.
I’ve always loved the gym but historically had been more into cardio and classes, with a mix of weight lifting being about 70:30.
With lockdown all classes stopped and I suddenly felt very alone and unable to get into the groove of exercising at home.
I was apprehensive about a few things when I was considering signing up, the biggest two for me were:
1) Would I actually stick to it, or would I continue being stuck in my rut and now also be paying a lot of money out for no gain?
2) Would I actually enjoy it or would it feel too oppressive? I like to train because I enjoy it, not because I feel like I “have to”
Thankfully, I did give it a go as I actually thoroughly enjoyed the variety of the programme Emily set and really looked forward to our weekly check-ins; it couldn’t have been further from an oppressive experience and actually helped me to fall back in love with exercise and frankly my own well being again.
Fast forward 2 years, I reached out to Emily again and worked with two of her coaches on a programme specifically designed for me and my changing body as I travel the wonderful journey of pregnancy.
Without Sarah’s coaching through this, I would have been thoroughly lost with what’s safe / not safe and what’s best for me, as an individual. The internet is swarmed with conflicting advice and dos and don’ts which have changed over the years.
Sarah wrote a personalised programme for me at every stage of pregnancy, we listened to my body and adapted each week and I’m so incredibly grateful for her support and guidance throughout this new, challenging journey.
What’s been the best result of working with FitQueen?
For the first time, working with Emily directly, the best result for me wasn’t physical it was mental. I felt like I’d taken back control of my life, my body and my mind. I was happy again and really enjoying looking after my body. The physical results were a bonus of course and they fed into some of that happiness.
For the second time, working with Jessie and Sarah, the best result was both mental and physical.
I feel so strong and empowered both with knowledge and physically.
My body is in the best shape I could possibly have hoped to be in and I’m as prepared for labour physically as I can possibly be.
My core strength has meant despite measuring at over the 90th centile that I am still not suffering with any aches or pains and both my midwives have said they rarely see any women with the same level of abdominal wall structure as I have and without it, I would likely be suffering a lot in my lower back and joints now.
What was the biggest benefit from the programme that you DIDN’T expect to experience?
Confidence! I expected to feel anything but confident about my body whilst growing a human.
When I first fell pregnant a lot of thoughts ran through my mind and I knew my partner was a big baby (all of his siblings were also above the 90th centile too) so I was concerned for how my body would potentially change and as vain as that sounds, I’d already started to feel a bit sad about it.
I had absolutely no idea I would feel this good and be this happy looking at myself in the mirror at 8 months pregnant!

Having invested time and money with Emily and her team at different stages of my life, I can’t shout from the rooftops loud enough about how amazing they are and the incredible impact they have!
